Call for contributions International Project Week 11-15 March 2024 Dear all, The Royal Academy of Fine Arts Antwerp is excited to launch the first edition of the International Project Week 2024! While the project week is not a new concept at the Academy, we are delighted to announce that the 2024 edition will be the first international one. During this week, students and staff are invited to reflect on the overarching idea of The use of craft techniques in contemporary art during a number of exciting and challenging workshops and lectures. Our Project Week will take place from 11 to 15 March and is aimed at our Bachelor 3 students. During this week, students are invited to work on their interdisciplinary skills by choosing from a great number of workshops and lectures that get them out of their comfort zone and into a different mindset. The week consists of a combination of workshops lasting a full week and shorter ones of a day or even a couple of hours. Students can build their own schedule by choosing the week-long workshop or going for a mix-and-match principle. Wat are we looking for? Workshops We are looking for workshops on not only traditional skills (like bronze casting, book binding, sand casting etc.) but also more contemporary skills (like 3D-scanning, laser cutting, deploying AI in the art practice etc.). You can also be built a session around the use of research tools, such as video recording or photo documentation of one’s own practice, developing a mind map or a research journal etc. Lectures Besides the workshops, the project week also offers lectures, free and open to all students. If you have an interesting take on the central theme of The use of craft techniques in contemporary art, you are very welcome to share your ideas with us. Connecting a lecture to a workshop is a viable pathway as well, especially if you plan on using Erasmus Staff Mobility for Teaching*. We kindly invite you to join us and contribute by giving a lecture or arrange a workshop (or a combination of both) for the participating students. Please express your interest by completing this form. Deadline The deadline for submission is January 31st 2024. We will then make a selection and inform you about our decision no later than February 14th. *This event could qualify for the Erasmus+ program (Staff Mobility for Teaching). Please be aware that you need a minimum of eight hours and two days if you want to apply for this funding (applying happens through your home institution). Get in touch to discuss the possibilities of accumulating these working hours. We hope to welcome you in Antwerp for a fruitful and engaging experience!
