Dimitra Antonopoulou was born in Melbourne in 1975. She attended painting courses (1990-1993) at the Kalamata School of Art.
She studied painting at the Athens School of Fine Arts (1993–1998) on a scholarship from the State Scholarships Foundation (IKY), under the instruction of Triantafyllos Patraskidis and Chronis Botsoglou. From 1995 to 1998, she also studied mosaic with Ioannis Valavanidis and Dafni Angelidou.
In 1997, through the Erasmus programme, she attended courses at the Edinburgh College of Art, Heriot-Watt University.
In 2020, she completed a Master’s degree at the Hellenic Open University (HOU) in Graphic Arts and Multimedia, with a thesis entitled: Contemporary Art in the Metro and Electric Railway Stations of Athens: Creating a Map for Touristic and Educational Use. During her postgraduate studies, her project Voices of the Poet K. Cavafy was selected and presented at the National Audiovisual Institute in Warsaw and at the Gutenberg Museum in Mainz, on 24 November, as part of the Media Art Exhibition: Akademos, A Place for Poets and Philosophers.
She worked in Secondary Education from 2000 to 2019 in various regions across Greece.
Since 2019, she has been a permanent member of the Laboratory Teaching Staff at the Athens School of Fine Arts, where she teaches in the elective studio of Mosaic.
She has participated in numerous group exhibitions from 1998 to the present, and her works are held in public and private collections, as well as in places of worship.
