Event Description: Fulbright Greece and HELAAS invited three Fulbright alumni to participate in an online exchange. Carol Becker will engage in conversation with Konstantinos Ioannidis and Theodora Tsimpouki about the role creativity and critical thinking can play in higher education: How might they contribute to a culture of social responsibility and community engagement within higher education institutions to affect society at large? Professor Becker will also reflect on what artists can teach us, her role leading two major art schools, her romance with Greece, and her future plans for writing, teaching, and research.

AI versus ART @ ASFA
For the intellectually curious and aesthetically attuned, the School of Fine Arts in Athens presents “AI versus ART @ ASFA,” a symposium slated for the 10th of November 2023. This confluence of minds serves as an arena for the dialectics between Art and Artificial Intelligence—a nexus of technicity and creativity, ethics and aesthetics. The event is designed as a polylogue, inviting a spectrum of perspectives to interrogate themes such as the Philosophical Underpinnings of AI in Art, Curatorial Strategies in the Age of Algorithms, and the Ethico-Aesthetic Implications of Machine Learning. Each presentation, limited to 15 minutes, aims to distill complex ideas into their most potent form, setting the stage for panel discussions that promise to deepen the discourse.
(The time schedule will be announced asap and will be adapted to compensate the timezone of each participant)
Opening: Iannis Bardakos, Ioannis Melanitis

TTT the conference (upcoming in Slovenia in September 2025) focuses (a) on questions about the nature of the forbidden and about the aesthetics of liminality, as expressed in art that uses or is inspired by technology and science, and (b) on the opening of spaces for creative transformation in the merging of science and art. TTT, created by Dalila Honorato, is based on the support of a large informal network of international researchers and practitioners that develop their activities at the edge of art and science intersections. Topics explored in the TTT Conferences include: Biopunk, hybridity and aesthetics of mutation; Cyborg, augmentation, and bοdy modification; Chemistry of the mind, natural healers, and mind enhancement; Biotechnology, DIY&DIWO, and biohacking; Ethology, human and nonhuman; Evolution, genetics, and plasticity; Post-gender, transgressive identities, and social models; Human sexual response, laws of attraction, and queer eroticism; Parasitology, symbiosis, and microbiome; Biopolitics, displacement, and resistance; Pandemic, bioterror, and scientific trust; Witchcraft, gender narrative, and history of science; Rewilding, degradation and restoration.
